REALonline is a research database operated by the Institute for Medieval and Early Modern Material Culture in Krems an der Donau (hereinafter “IMAREAL”) of the University of Salzburg. REALonline is accessible to the public and free of charge.
Use of REALonline databases and content:
You are only permitted to use REALonline (databases and content) for personal purposes and neither directly or indirectly for commercial purposes. In particular you are permitted to use it for your personal information, for your own research and for teaching and training. Follow-up uses of the databases and their content, such as their inclusion as citations in academic papers or lectures, must indicate “REALonline” as the source.
In particular you are not permitted to make the REALonline databases and/or content publicly accessible, to remove watermarks or otherwise to make changes – beyond what is permitted by binding statutory rights. Adaptations and changes require the express consent of IMAREAL.
On request and depending on availability, IMAREAL will provide you with high-resolution images without watermarks. Further details and the licence conditions can be found under “Ordering photos”.
User-generated content on REALonline
With respect to all content that you as user create and communicate to IMAREAL, you shall irrevocably grant IMAREAL a non-exclusive right, unrestricted in terms of place, content or time, to use the content thereof (works and other objects of protection). You shall waive the right to be identified by name.
Ideas and suggestions are welcome. You note that IMAREAL can use and exploit your ideas and suggestions free of charge.
Exclusion of liability
In the event of an infringement of copyright, you alone shall be liable to any third parties for damages and in this respect you shall indemnify and hold IMAREAL harmless with regard to all third-party claims.
In addition, IMAREAL assumes no liability whatsoever for the links from third-party sites that can be reached from the REALonline web site. Activating a link is at the user’s own risk. Nor is IMAREAL liable for the permanent availability or complete functionality of links to the websites of other providers.
You bear sole responsibility for any captioning. IMAREAL assumes no liability for any infringement of general press law or other general legislation through an unlawful or distorting use in image and text.
Data protection and data processing
IMAREAL respects your fundamental right to data protection. You consent to the electronic and automated recording and processing of their master data (personal details) and all use data. IMAREAL uses your data exclusively to communicate with you, to improve your user experience and to make the use of REALonline technically possible. Your data will not be communicated to third parties. The data is stored and processed exclusively within the meaning of the applicable data protection law. You have the right to demand information, correction, blocking and deletion of stored data concerning you, unless such is in conflict with binding statutory provisions (e.g. the statutory retention obligation). REALonline uses Google Analytics, a service of Google Inc (“Google”) for web analysis. The use of Google Analytics stores cookies on the user’s computer, permitting an analysis of the use of the website. The information generated about the use (including the IP addresses of the website visitors) of this website are transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. Google will use this information to conduct analyses of the use of the website, such as anonymous analyses and charts on page views and visits. IMAREAL uses the data exclusively for the optimisation of REALonline. Similarly, Google transfers this information to third parties where necessary, to the extent that such is laid down by law or where third parties process data on Google’s instructions.
